Barufekon

On the first day of Opatija "Barufe" is saved for another Barufekon, relaxing evening socializing with a program devoted to science fiction and fantasy-in. This year you can expect a lecture on Tolkien's presence in the texts of metal bands, the film quiz will teste knowledge of the series Battlestar Galactica (original series), there will be s film projection. The main point of the evening is the performance of U.S. fakir SquidlinG Brothers. The program starts at 18:00.

The 6th Congress of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society and the Joint Meeting with the Slovenian Neurosurgical Society is the first meeting of the two adjacent neurosurgical societies in South East Europe.
The objective of this Congress is to strive for regional coordination and the networking of all neighbouring neurosurgical societies for the purpose of the systematic surgical treatment of neurological diseases.

Travel Journalists in Opatija

The City of Opatija and the Tourist Board of the City of Opatija, as hosts, will show Opatija’s touristic values to the most influential travel journalists in the world. During their stay in Opatija, the FIJET President, Tijani Haddad, will hold a press conference together with the hosts, the mayor of the City of Opatija Ivan Dujmić and the Opatija Tourism Office director Jasna Doričić Sanković. While they are in Opatija, the heads of travel journalist associations for the entire world will stay in the Hotel Ambassador*****, and the formal dinner will be held at the Hotel Mozart***** on the 25th May.

In Croatian Museum of Tourism on Monday, 23rd of May 2011 at Villa Angiolina in Opatija started the exhibition "The first hotels on the Adriatic. "
The exhibition opened Croatian Minister of Culture mr.sc. Jasen Mesic.

1st Open Mini Handball Championship in Opatija

The First Open Mini Handball Championship in Opatija for boys and girls born 2001 and and younger will be held in the sports hall Gorovo on Sunday 22nd of May starting at 9.00. The tournament will host 24 teams from 13 clubs: HC Halub from Viškova, WHC Krk, WHC Liburnija Matulji, RK Matulji, HC Omisalj, HC Senj - Wallenborn, WHC Vinodol, HC Trsat, HC Vrbosvsko, HC Zabok, HC Zamet, Coastal schools handball from Crikvenica and hosts HC Opatija. Tournament organizer is HC Opatija. Matches will be played on three courts for mini handball, and winners will be announced around 16.00.
