The Kastav carnival takes place annually between St Anthony's day (17 January) and Ash Wednesday (6 February). During parades, groups perform different dances, ringing the bells attached to their belts and colliding with each other to ensure maximum noise!

The fifth jubilee national exhibition YOUNG @ INNOVATION will be held from 20th to 22nd September 2012, into the new school sports hall in Kastav. Young innovators from as many as 10 county and Zagreb City will present their works. Admission to the exhibition is free.

Nach Abschluss der Musikschule, wurde Darko von der Jazzmusik und der Gitarre verzaubert. Er war besonders von dem Gitarristen Jordan beeindruckt, dessen „two hands tapping“-Technik er seitdem erfolgreich umsetzt. Diese Technik ermöglicht das gleichzeitige Spielen der Melodie mit einer Hand und die Begleitung mit dem Bass. In den Jahren 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 wurde Darko Jurković als bester Gitarrist in Kroatien ausgezeichnet, 2006 gewann der den „Porin“ als bester Jazz-Gitarrist.
